The Allegany Arts Council is sponsoring the 7th annual Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition (ANPCE) April 2 - 24, 2021.
The juried show offers $5,000 in prize money, including $1,500 for Best of Show. It also offers the opportunity for photographers to exhibit their work in the show’s digital gallery and – COVID rules permitting – at the Arts Council’s Saville Gallery, located in the heart of historic downtown Cumberland.
The deadline for entries (using the CAFÉ online system) is Friday, February 12, 2021. Photographers may submit a maximum of six (6) entries in three (3) categories.
Competition categories are Color, Monochrome, and Photography as Sculpture/Mixed Media (multi-dimensional).
All artwork must be for sale and must have been created by the submitting artist within the past three (3) years.
The 2021 ANPCE juror is Audrey Sands, assistant curator of photography for both the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, AZ, and the Phoenix Art Museum. Among many other claims to fame, the Center for Creative Photography is the “home” of Ansel Adams’ archive of negatives and many of his original prints.
This past year, the ANPCE attracted 859 entries from 36 states, and 70 works were selected for exhibit.
